One of the long standing traditions of St. Ann's is prayer requests. People come here and pray for their families, for their health and for special needs. They write prayers and place them at the Shrine of St. Ann or near her statue in the grotto. Every day in our mail we receive requests for prayers. At each Novena service on Monday's the leader of the Novena always asks those at the service to pray for specific requests that were sent in during the past week.
Praying for one another is a great gift of our faith. The disciples marveled at Jesus' prayer, the time he took to pray and desired to pray as he did. (Luke 11:1). Paul tells us to “pray without ceasing.” (1 Thess. 5:17). He also said in second Thessalonians “that to this end we always pray for you.” (2 Thess. 1:11) On this page we encourage you to write down your request for prayer. As soon as we receive it we will give it to the Passionists who live at St. Ann's as well as place it before the shrine of St. Ann and the Passionist Saints in the Basilica. We hope that your prayer requests will give you a sense of peace knowing that you are not alone in your desire to seek God's direction and answer to your prayers. We ask you to pray for others who come to St. Ann's asking for their prayers to be granted. We thank God for allowing us to pray for another and have hope that through the intercession of St. Ann our prayers will allow us to do the will of the one who prays for us and wishes us peace.
I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours. (John 17:9) Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you." (John 20:19)
