Solemn Novena 2019

Posted by admin - June 14th, 2019

June 2019,

Dear Friends of Saint Ann,

Over the past year, I have heard from a great many of you who have asked Saint Ann’s intercession for a wide variety of
intentions.  In so many letters and conversations, I have heard over and over again how Saint Ann has responded wonderfully
to so many needs.  Our devotion and our faith are greatly deepened by this testimony.

As we approach the celebration of our Solemn Novena to Saint Ann from Wednesday, July 17th through her feast day, Friday,
July 26th, our confidence in Saint Ann urges us to prayerfully reflect upon our continuing needs and the needs of our families,
friends, church and our world.  We remember that our most powerful help in all of these is to ask St. Ann for her ongoing
intercession.

I invite you to join together with us at Saint Ann’s in seeking God’s guidance and blessings through the intercession of Saint Ann.
Our first step is to gather your intentions together, write them out on your intention slip and return it so I may place them at
Saint Ann’s Shrine by the beginning of our Solemn Novena.

Secondly, we pray together every day, asking Saint Ann to be attentive.  I sincerely hope you will be able to join us here
at the Basilica for all or part of our novena.  We will be lead in prayer and preaching by Fr. Rick Frechette, C.P., medical
doctor and missionary in Haiti and Fr. Jack Conley, C.P., superior of our Passionist Community at Catholic Theological Union
in Chicago.  If you cannot be with us here on Saint Ann’s holy ground, please pray with us every day wherever you happen to be.

I am deeply grateful for all of your past devotion and generosity to Saint Ann’s.  I look forward to your continuing devotion
and support as we intensify our prayer to good Saint Ann.

In Christ’s Passion,

Very Rev. Richard Burke, C.P.
Rector
